Main Event – Bring a Tree to Share!

For this month’s meeting, we invite you to bring along your best or favourite tree to display. We’ll set them up on tables around the Library for everyone to enjoy. After our usual announcements and autumn updates, each participant will have a chance to introduce their tree with a few words — you can share its provenance, a story, or anything you’d like about your bonsai journey with it.

Bonsai at The Leaf

Scott is coordinating a bonsai exhibit to accompany The Leaf’s autumn display, The Enchanted Forest, running from September 12 to mid-November.

• The preview night is September 11 — the same evening as our meeting. While our president will be networking at The Leaf, we’ll carry on as usual with plenty of backup.
• If you have bonsai to contribute, please contact Scott.

Tending the Wild – Buhler Art Gallery

Did you know St. Boniface Hospital has a public art gallery? The Buhler Art Gallery is currently highlighting nature-themed art. Curator Hannah Godfrey invited our club to participate, and Joe will be setting up a ficus with grow lights for the entire run — similar to The Leaf’s display. Both exhibits will raise our profile and hopefully inspire new bonsai enthusiasts to join our club.

Fall Dig Day – Save the Date!

Our annual dig for Manitoba wildings is planned for Sunday, October 12.

We’ll visit our usual, easily accessible sites just east of Winnipeg. More details to come — mark your calendars!

Zoom Participation

Aaron will host the meeting on Zoom for:

• Members joining from afar,
• New members, and
• Anyone who prefers to attend from the comfort of home (yes, even in your pyjamas!).
• A Zoom invitation will be sent a few days before the meeting.

Do you have something bonsai-related you no longer need that you can donate to the club? Please bring them. Raffles are a fun way to acquire new items and also help raise funds for the club.
