News and Updates
2025 President's and Treasurer’s Report on recent activities.
Tropical & Subtropical Bonsai with Stuart Innes
Long-time club member and past president Stuart Innes will give a lively presentation—complete with props and examples—on the care and cultivation of tropical and subtropical bonsai. Stu will cover all the essentials: light, water, humidity, fertilizer, and pest control, sharing his knowledge of how to keep indoor bonsai thriving through our long, cold Manitoba winter.
He’ll also walk us through the gear and tools that make winter care easier and answer your questions about everything from lighting setups to pest prevention.
As many of us know, tending to indoor bonsai in winter is more than a hobby—it’s good therapy during the dark months, offering a bit of green calm when we need it most. And those bright grow lights that keep our trees happy can also double as a little light therapy for us.
Tropical SHOW and TELL
To round out the evening, we’ll enjoy a showcase of tropical bonsai brought by members brave enough to share their warmth-loving trees at the meeting.
Scott’s “Trunk Chop” Update
We’ll get an update on where Scott’s ficus is at, from the recent Trunk Chop presentation a few months ago.
