Weekend
Sponsored by the Bonsai Society of Winnipeg
Welcome to the fascinating world of Bonsai, a living art form which combines
horticulture, design and philosophy to create, in miniature, tree compositions
inspired by nature.
Many Bonsai artists in the Winnipeg Bonsai Society interpret the Canadian landscape
with indigenous tree species such as Tamarack, Cedar and Juniper, while others
use tropical species and style them as they would grow in their natural environment — hurricane
battered shorelines, mangrove swamps, jungles, deserts and rainforests.

Bonsai Exhibit
Over 100 Bonsai trees created by local Bonsai artists will be on exhibit. Trees
include species native to Manitoba and Canada as well as from tropical and
temperate climates. Exhibit winners to be announced on Sunday 2:00 PM.
Demonstrations for all visitors
Club members will create Bonsai compositions from field-grown tropical Ficus
trees. These trees will be raffled to the public on Sunday. A great way to get
a genuine tropical Bonsai tree. |
