Bring a Tree, Bring a Story
Our June meeting is all about getting hands-on with our trees and learning from one another.
Members are encouraged to bring a bonsai to work on during the meeting. Seasonal maintenance, pruning, wiring, and styling discussions are all welcome. Please note that we will not be repotting trees at this meeting—it's simply too messy for our meeting space.
If your tree doesn't need work, consider bringing it for a Show & Tell. We'd love to hear what you've been working on, what challenges you've encountered, and what lessons you've learned along the way.
Nursery Stock Challenge Update
We're especially excited to see the trees from the Bonsai Winnipeg 2025 Nursery Stock Challenge.
How are they doing?
- Are they still alive?
- Have they put on good growth?
- Have you made significant styling progress?
- Have they graduated into a proper bonsai pot?
- Did something go terribly wrong?
Successes are inspiring, but failures can be just as valuable. By sharing both, we help each other avoid mistakes and discover new possibilities. Bring your challenge tree and tell us its story.
Preparing for the 2026 Annual Display
The Annual Display may seem a long way off, but great show trees are planned months in advance.
During the meeting, we'll discuss how to evaluate your trees for exhibition potential and develop a timeline for the work needed to have them looking their best in 2026. We'll cover the timing of key techniques such as pruning, wiring, needle and leaf management, repotting considerations, and presentation preparation so your trees can be show-ready when the time comes.
A Note About Payments
Our club volunteers work hard to keep things running smoothly, and a little cooperation from members goes a long way.
Membership Payments
Membership renewals are automated through your member account. Simply:
- Sign in to your account, home page Member Log In.
- Ensure automatic payments are enabled.
- Keep your credit card information up to date.
This system minimizes manual administrative work and helps our membership volunteers focus on serving the club rather than processing payments.
If you do not have a credit card and wish to pay by cheque, cash, or e-transfer, please make arrangements directly with our Treasurer.
Workshops, Group Orders, and Events
For workshops, group orders, and other club events, please pay by e-transfer whenever possible and note what the funds are for.
If you prefer to pay by cash or cheque, please contact the Treasurer in advance to make arrangements.
By following these payment procedures, you help our volunteers do their jobs with greater ease and accuracy—and give them more time to work on their bonsai, too.
We look forward to seeing everyone at the June meeting and hearing the stories behind your trees.
RAFFLE PRIZES—TREES, BONSAI POTS AND MORE.
Do you have something bonsai-related you no longer need that you can donate to the club? Please bring them. Raffles are a fun way to acquire new items and also help raise funds for the club.
GUESTS ARE WELCOME!
Come to a meeting, meet new friends who share your interests and see if bonsai is for you.
