Bonsai Winnipeg
Where tiny trees bravely face enormous winters
Welcome to Zone 3
A place where bonsai is less a hobby… and more an ongoing negotiation with nature.
In milder climates, bonsai is an art form. In Winnipeg, it’s a test of character, insulation techniques, and emotional resilience.
🌲 What We Do
We grow miniature trees in a climate that regularly attempts to destroy them. Through wiring, pruning, and mild panic, we shape nature into something beautiful— or at least something that survives until spring.
❄️ Our Growing Season
Roughly three weeks in June. The rest of the year is dedicated to overwintering strategies, weather monitoring, and explaining to friends why your trees live in the garage.
🧠 Required Skills
- Horticultural knowledge
- Advanced frost avoidance tactics
- Emotional detachment (optional, but recommended)
- Ability to say “it’ll bounce back” with confidence
🤝 Join the Club
Meet others who understand the unique joy of watching a tree survive -35°C. Share tips, stories, and the occasional quiet moment of grief.
No tree left behind… unless it didn’t make it.
