Giving Back to the Club

From time to time, members find themselves downsizing their bonsai collections, moving to a new community, or stepping away from the hobby. Along with treasured trees, they may have accumulated books, tools, pots, display items, and other bonsai-related materials.

While Bonsai Winnipeg is not equipped to appraise, purchase, or sell members' collections, we warmly encourage members to consider donating these items to the club.

For many of us, Bonsai Winnipeg has been more than just a club. It has provided education, workshops, exhibits, mentorship, inspiration, and friendships that have enriched our bonsai journey. Donated materials help us continue that tradition by supporting new enthusiasts, enhancing club programs, expanding our library, and creating opportunities for future generations of bonsai artists.

Bonsai can be a rewarding pursuit, but it can also be an expensive one. Donated books, tools, pots, and other materials can help lower barriers for newcomers and members with limited means, making it possible for more people to participate in and enjoy the art of bonsai. A donated tool or pot that may no longer be needed by one member can become an invaluable resource for another, helping to spark a lifelong passion and ensuring that the knowledge and enjoyment of bonsai continue to grow within our community.

A donation can be a meaningful way to leave a lasting legacy within the club and ensure that valuable bonsai resources remain within our community. Whether it is a few books, a collection of pots, or specialized tools, your contribution can continue to educate and inspire.

For members who wish to sell items rather than donate them, Bonsai Winnipeg offers Spring and Fall Swap & Sell meetings. Members who are current with their membership dues are welcome to participate in these events, which provide an excellent opportunity to connect directly with fellow enthusiasts and find new homes for bonsai-related materials. See Meeting Planner.

We are grateful for the generosity of members who choose to give back in this way and help strengthen the future of bonsai in Manitoba.
