Lectures that Inspire
• What is Bonsai — and why does it matter today? (a bridge between ancient wisdom and modern living — offering mindfulness, creativity, and connection)
• The Bonsai Society of Winnipeg — meet your local bonsai family (who we are and how we help)
• Bonsai through time: from ancient dynasties to modern balconies (History of bonsai)
• 5 Trunk Inclinations & Classic Styles — each style tells a story
• Techniques, Pots & Tools — pruning, wiring, potting
• Seasonal Care — light, air, water, soil, pests, fertilizer
• Bonsai Lifestyle — indoors, balconies, or backyards (connecting bonsai practice with ritual and individual lifestyles)
• Getting Started — your first bonsai: an easy-care starter bonsai (details to follow)
Live Demonstrations and hands-on work
• Step-by-step instructions/demonstrations that keeps the whole group in sync. Volunteers and tools are on hand to provide help as needed. No one left behind.
Where: Plant Science, University of Manitoba
When: Saturday, September 12, 2026, or Saturday, September 19, 2026,
9:30 AM – 3:30 PM (1-hour lunch break)
Who: Delivered by passionate volunteer instructors from the Bonsai Society of Winnipeg
